Cute Yeti Drawing!

Discover how to draw a yeti playing in the snow with this cute Bigfoot drawing tutorial.

So, exactly what is a Yeti?

Ah! My friend, a Yeti is a hairy mythical creature that roams the Himalayan mountain range. Also called the ‘Abominable Snowman’ or ‘Bigfoot’, this poor creature has gathered somewhat of a bad reputation over the years.

Most people think the Yeti is a grumpy sort who comes out during snow storms to seek out lost travellers to capture and take back to it’s lair, but this just isn’t true. In fact, the Yeti gets quite lonely and loves a bit of company.

I mean, who else are you going to play snowball fights with all the way out there in the snowy, cold Himalayas? So next time you’re out on a quick Himalayan hike and you happen to be lucky enough to spot one of these creatures, take some time to exchange a few snowballs and consider offering it some candy cane; another scarcely found favorite of the Yeti.

Yeti Drawing Step-by-step Tutorial

Check out the swanky horns on our cute yeti! I’ll show you how to draw her step by step. Let’s go!

Frog Drawing -Milan's Mischief

Step One: It Always Begins With A Potato…

Potato, potato, show me your style!

Have you noticed, nearly all of my tutorials start with some kind of wonky potato shape? hehe.

Step Two: A Potato With Extras

This is a guideline step my friend. This is where we decide which direction our yeti is facing and how big her head is.

So, let’s draw another smaller circle inside the potato and join it up with a loop at the bottom which is going to be where her furry stomach goes.

Step Three: The Guidelines Know All!

Let’s dump a few more guidelines in so we can envisage what actions our yeti is taking. She’s engaging in a rather serious snowball fight, so we’ll draw one arm out to the side to steady her for balance, and the secon arm bent, just in front of her body to weild the deadly snowball. 😉

Step Four: Add the Fuzz

This is why guidelines are so handy. They stop you from stuffing up! We need to make our yeti a bit furry, after all she has to spend the majority of her days traipsing around snow covered mountains, so it makes sense that she’d had an uber fluffy coat.

I’ve just followed my guidelines around and fuzzed up the edges for her fur.

PRO TIP: You can change her ‘look’ simply by making her hair fuzzier and sharper or fluffier and more bouffant.

Step Five: Keep Your Eye on the (snow)Ball

This is the fun step! Well, for me drawing the face is always the most fun. I’ve drawn some massive sleepy looking eyes and I’m about to draw in a huge mega smile too.

Watch the video to see how a few simple changes to the face can swap out the whole vibe of your yeti!

Step Six: Plant Your Feet

Let’s draw in our legs. Now, you don’t want to draw both legs exactly the same. The reason is, is because noone stands with their feet pointing in the same direction (unless you’re in a marching band maybe). People usually have one foot pointing forward with their weight on it, and the other foot casually out to the side.

We’re going to do the same for our Yeti drawing. Think of your guidelines as the ‘bones’ of the legs and draw your fur around them.

Step Seven: Put Your Best Foot Forward

See how I’ve drawn my legs and feet? One is pointing to the side, and the other is facing forward.

Step Eight: A Call to Arms!

Following the same principle as our legs and feet, its time to draw in the arms. I’ve created mitten looking hands for our cartoon yeti instead of trying to draw a bunch of super fuzzy fingers. I think the mittens look makes her look cuter too.

See the close up for how to draw her hand clasping the snowball. Start with the circle for the snowball, then create a V shape for the fingers and just erase where the snowball overlaps.

Step Nine: Let the Snowball Fight Begin!

The final step to our cute yeti drawing is to add in her groovy horns and some toenails.

I went for an uber curly with stripes horn motif, but you can draw little stumpy horns or give her a wooly hat to wear if you want. I really think the horns complete her look.

She’s Done!

Add a big splash of color and you’re done! I liked soft pinks and blues for my yeti drawing. I thought it would help her blend into her snowy environment more and give her an edge over her opponent in the snowball fight. Gotta help a girl out right!?

Yeti Quest: The Hunt for the Elusive Creature of the Snow

For centuries, people have searched for the Yeti. A mythical creature, some believe it’s a giant ape covered with white fur. Others say the creature is more like a wild man with long hair. The debate has gone on endlessly. However, one thing is for sure: it seems that the Yeti doesn’t want to be found.

Despite all of this, many have tried to search for the elusive creature. From Nepal to Scotland, many have left with nothing but disappointment in their journey.

This is where you come in! We know how determined you are to find the elusive yeti, so here are a few steps to help you on your epic quest for glory!

The Quest Begins!

You’re finally off on your own personal quest to find the elusive Yeti. You have traveled far and wide to find any information that might point you in the right direction. After searching for days, you finally find something; an old document written in a language you can’t read, but it appears to be a map of some kind.

Research the Area

The first step is to research the area. You are heading into unknown territory, full of dangers and obstacles. It’s best to be forearmed with the tools and knowledge you need to make it out alive!

If you’re heading to Nepal, you’ll need to learn more about the area. There are a few ways you can do this. First, you can refer to books and articles on Nepal. Second, you can search online for information about the region. Maybe there’s a website that lists wildlife or maps of Nepal? But the easiest way, and probably most effective, is to hire a local guide who can take you to where the Yeti has last been sighted.

Be Strategic and Plan Ahead

The first step to any quest is the planning phase. To plan your Yeti Quest, you’ll need to make a list of all the things you’ll need for your journey.

Make sure to consider safety! What sort of protections should you have in place? From bear spray for bears, to mosquito repellent, and an emergency kit containing a first-aid kit and a knife – there are many things you’ll want on your quest. I don’t know about you, but I’ve heard that our friend Bigfoot has a penchant for sweets…

Stash all your supplies in a sturdy, waterproof backpack ready for your massive trek ahead.

Head Off into the Wild!

You are now ready to begin your quest! You have the map, you have all the supplies… including a rather large stash of boiled lollies just in case the rumours are true, and you managed to find a kindly fellow from the local village who will take you up into Sasquatch Land! You’ve said farewell to your loved ones and you are ready the face the dangers that lie ahead.

Good luck fearless traveller! Let me know how you go.
